Today (14.05.2022), after 8 years of work, the new double-track tunnel of the Lausanne-Echallens-Bercher railway line (LEB) is finally in operation in extension of the completely renewed Flon-Chauderon tunnel. Together they form an underground infrastructure of 2.2 km, with 2 stations (Flon and Chaudron), a ventilation shaft, modern slab track and rigid overhead conductor rail system.
A huge work of the whole GESTE Engineering SA team (partially carried out in the framework of the GIT-LEB+ consortium).
This is the first project that we are managing from the preliminary studies to commissioning with the involvement of all our 9 company's business units. GESTE was actually in charge of the following work packages:
-
System engineering: system engineering and integration of railway equipment
-
Signalling & automation: railway signalling on the ground and integration with the rolling stock
-
Energy: rigid overhead contact system, traction current, earthing, low voltage, cables, telecom and SCADA
-
Track: ballastless and ballasted track
-
Equipment: safety and operation equipment (lighting, fire detection, fire pipe, …)
-
Rolling stock: train equipment with ZBMS (ETCS-L1)
-
Safety: RAMS, safety, evacuation
-
Ventilation & flows: tunnel ventilation, HVAC
-
Fire safety: fire protection
A huge congratulations to the 57 GESTE employees who since 2014 have successfully participated in the realisation of this wonderful project. Thanks to all my staff, thanks to our partners, thanks to the suppliers and thanks to the operator tl-LEB.
