The first train for the future automatic metro line 18 has been delivered to the Palaiseau operations centre. This is a major step forward for this major project led by the Société des grands projets and financed by Ile-De-France Mobilités.
This innovative 47-metre-long train will carry up to 350 passengers, travel at 100 km/h in automatic mode and run at intervals of up to 85 seconds during peak hours.
Designed with comfort, accessibility and connectivity in mind, it features:
✔️ Full-length interconnecting gangways without bellows
✔️ PRM areas & priority seats
✔️ Circadian lighting, air conditioning, WiFi
✔️ Information screens and video surveillance
Assembled in France at Alstom's sites, the train is entering its testing phase with a view to entering service on the Massy-Palaiseau – CEA/Saint-Aubin section in 2026.
This milestone illustrates the collective commitment to a new-generation metro system at the heart of the transformation of mobility in the Île-de-France region. GESTE Engineering is providing project management assistance on the Line 18 project as part of the #Link18 consortium.
Congratulations to the teams involved in this project, which will connect Versailles to Orly via the Saclay plateau, a major hub for innovation and research!
