To surround the Danish capital with a fully automated underground metro line: this is the objective of the Copenhagen ring road project. The "Cityringen Subway" represents 15 kilometres of new two-track lines, serving 17 stations. The DKK 21.3 billion (EUR 2.9 billion) project will enter into service in 2018.
GESTE Engineering is RAMS Manager (English acronym for FDMS: Reliability, Availability, Maintenance and Safety) for the civil works of the Cityringen project, including the electromechanical equipment: low voltage power supply, lifts and escalators, fire protection and fire fighting systems, SCADA systems, ventilation and hydraulic subsystem. As such, he represents the CMT for all RAMS/FDMS aspects towards the operator, the supplier of the automatic metro control system, the experts, the national authorities.
Also, GESTE Engineering has tested the preliminary concept of the emergency ventilation system of the tunnel, by carrying out numerical simulations under different operating conditions. In particular, 1D simulations were carried out in normal, degraded and fire alarm operating modes.
