Lausanne's public transport (TL) is developing its offer in the geographical area of the Bourdonnette with the extension of the Trolleybus line n° 25. In this context, the Bourdonnette level crossing must be renewed in order to meet the constraints posed by the electrification of the said extension. A tailor-made role for GESTE.
Faced with the demographic boom in the capital of the canton of Vaud, Lausanne's transport operators are developing their urban network. The new route of line 25 will create an East-West axis on the periphery of Lausanne, linking Pully-Gare to Renens-Gare; it will also improve services to the Bourdonnette district, which is expected to experience strong demographic growth.
The Bourdonnette level crossing is at the centre of several urban infrastructures: a crossroads with traffic lights, the intersection of two main roads and a metro line, the m1 line. At the gates of Lausanne and close to several large companies (to the east) and university campuses (to the west), it occupies a strategic position and is therefore experiencing strong and growing traffic. Its layout, which is particularly complex, must therefore be thought out as a whole and fully meet the requirements in terms of security.
GESTE is in charge of the railway safety installations throughout the life of this project, from its design to its commissioning. The company is also involved in the road safety installations, by selecting the teams working in this field according to the operating principles chosen and the specific constraints of the City of Lausanne (electrical standards, maintenance, bus priority, etc.).
